Daniel Reichard's Decked Out Holiday Party!

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is happy to announce that Broadway and concert hall star, Daniel Reichard, will perform his solo holiday show for two days at Birdland in New York City. Backed by a seven-piece band of first-class musicians, Reichard will present favorite songs from past Christmas shows, and will introduce new material. Nostalgic and sacred Christmas standards, Hanukkah classics, and non-holiday songs alike will be sung. NY1's Roma Torre has described previous editions as "an instant rush of holiday spirit. Reichard reclaims the pure magic of Christmas." This year, you are his guest at a joyous, seasonal celebration. Festive, dressy, or decked out attire is suggested.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. It's a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

James Langton's New York All-Star Big Band recently sold out Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park during the Midsummer Night Swing Festival 2014.Featuring the cream of New York City's jazz musicians, the band faithfully re-creates the captivating sounds of the Swing Era drawing on the repertoire of the great bands like Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Charlie Barnet and many more. The band features exceptional talents, both established and new to the scene. Trumpeters Randy Reinhart and Randy Sandke, pianist Mark Shane, trombonist Jim Fryer, drummer Kevin Dorn, and saxophonists Peter and Will Anderson all grace its ranks.

Jay Leonhart Duo
Combining the skills of an old school entertainer and virtuoso jazz man, bassist, vocalist and composer Jay Leonhart has been a fixture of the New York scene for over forty years.
Between 1975 and 1995 he was named The Most Valuable Bassist in the recording industry three times by the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences. Jay has now recorded 15 solo albums. His first one-man show "The Bass Lesson" is being received warmly by critics and audiences. Jay's next show "Nukular Tulips" is in the works.

Birdland is proud to announce the fifth year of "A Swinging Birdland Christmas," starring Birdland regulars Klea Blackhurst, Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch. In the tradition of beloved seasonal specials, Blackhurst, Caruso and Stritch will perform swinging arrangements of "Christmas Waltz," Kay Thompson's "Holiday Season," "Sleigh Ride," and "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" among other favorites. The singers will be joined by Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums.

Jane Monheit's Quartet

In just over fifteen years, critically acclaimed jazz vocalist Jane Monheit's honey-smooth vocals, silky phrasing and natural knack for storytelling have earned her two Grammy nominations and established her as one of her generation's most beloved and accomplished vocalists. Jane's sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs has made her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds. Jane will debut her forthcoming project, "Hello Bluebird: Celebrating the Jazz of Judy Garland," in NYC during a weeklong engagement in January 2015.

Named for alto saxophonist and jazz pioneer Charlie "Bird" Parker who dubbed it "The Jazz Corner of the World," Birdland opened on December 15th 1949. For 60 years it has been home to jazz legends, from Parker, John Coltrane Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Oscar Peterson, Hank Jones, Diana Krall and everyone in between. The original 52nd street location was a cultural barometer and meeting place, inspiring the songs "Birdland" and "Lullaby of Birdland," and serving as a regular haunt for celebrities and cultural figures. The modern incarnation is a state of the art nightclub featuring award winning Southern and Cajun cuisine, first rate sound and lighting and a who's who of contemporary musical artists, 7 nights a week.
