Linda Purl and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra
The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that singer/actress Linda Purl will team with female jazz orchestra DIVA "Singing the Great Ladies of the Glamorous Nightclub Era." Acclaimed all female jazz orchestra DIVA together with Linda Purl, under the Musical Direction of Tedd Firth salute the great women singing stars of the 1940s and '50s-from Ella Fitzgerald to Judy Garland to Rosemary Clooney-as they reign over the swanky, sexy supper clubs of the era. The concert will include sultry ballads and hot Latin jazz arrangements of standards like, "S'Wonderful," "It's Alright With Me" and "Caravan," and conjure a nighttime world where the surroundings are posh, the drinks are ?owing and nobody goes to bed before three!

Jim Caruso's Cast Party
Jim Caruso's Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. It's a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

Tierney Sutton Band
The Tierney Sutton Band, "TSB" has traveled a rare path. Comprised of Sutton and instrumental virtuosos Kevin Axt, Ray Brinker, Trey Henry and Christian Jacob, the band functions as a true collaborative (and legally incorporated) unit and makes all musical as well as business decisions as partners. In 2011 the TSB received a Grammy nomination for its collaborative arranging, the only collaborative team ever to receive that honor.

Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band breathes life and passion into America's own great art form. Now in its 14th year of residency at Birdland, the weekly post-workday engagement is the city's best musical bargain! Tuba player David Ostwald leads a rotating lineup that features talents such as clarinetist Anat Cohen, trombonist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ehud Asherie, drummer Marion Felder and more!

Shelly Berg and David Finck
The duo album has tremendous lineage throughout Jazz history and on Chesky Records. The Deep adds another timeless pairing with Shelly Berg and David Finck complimenting each other on fourteen stunning new cuts, many of which were improvised on the spot. We are hearing them react to each other and create in real time with no discussion other than with their instruments, showcasing a lifetime of masterfully honed skill and experience. That this improvised material works so well with the standards they chose is further testament to the musicianship of Berg and Finck.

Nicolas King has been performing since he was 4 years old. Having been in 3 Broadway productions before the age of 12. Releasing his latest album, "On Another Note", with jazz icon Mike Renzi, he has performed on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for 8 consecutive years live in Las Vegas, the Mabel Mercer Foundation's "Cabaret Convention" for 8 years, and originated the voice of "Oscar" on Discovery Kids' "Kenny The Shark".

The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra
Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill -- leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz" (NY Times) -- was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He played piano in Carla Bley's Big Band from 1979 through 1983 and earned a reputation as a soloist in groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Turre, Freddy Cole, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Belafonte.
