I loved taking my children to Barnes & Noble and watching their mesmerized faces as a story was read to them by a good narrator. So it was as I looked upon the faces of the audience at Bebe Neuwirth's show at Feinstein's appropriately named "Stories With Piano#3.
If you are looking for a swinging, vocally supercharged evening, Bebe Neuwirth at Feinstein's is not for you. However, if your intent is to be enthralled by a Cabaret singer who uses her extensive artistry to convey the essence and drama of a song, you have found the right place. The stage at Feinstein's is not proportioned for the well renowned dance talents of Neuwirth, but what she does with her graceful arm and hand movements add another dimension to her cabaret performance. They perfectly enhance her well perfected vocal interpretations of Sondheim, Weill, Kander/Ebb Lennon/McCarney and the rest of her song list. From her opening number "As Time Goes By" to her closing "I'll Be Seeing You" the tale of each song is passionately told by the famed actor. Her pianist Scott Cady meticulously plays his theatrical arrangements which give Bebe the space she needs to tell the story.
