Stephen Hanks, Producer of Cabaret Life Productions, and Union Temple of Brooklyn (17 Eastern Parkway) are proud to announce that Musical Director/Pianist Jon Weber will perform his critically acclaimed show, From Joplin to Jarrett: 100 Years of Piano Jazz, at Union Temple tonight, June 19 at 8 pm. The one-man concert will be in the 3rd Floor Social Hall at 8 pm after the 6:30 pm Shabbat Service and dinner. Admission to the concert is FREE.

Weber, who won a 2015 Bistro Award for this show, is one of the most sought after musicians in New York cabaret. Critics raved about 100 Years of Piano Jazz. The New York Times' Stephen Holden wrote: "This one-hour program was an enlightening music history tutorial, delivered with enthusiasm and wit by a musician who is utterly devoid of professorial grandiosity. But because Mr. Weber can play up a storm, it was also a thrilling demonstration of one man's passionate attachment to his chosen instrument."

According to Hanks, the New York Cabaret Editor for BroadwayWorld.com, "Like Leonard Bernstein, Jon Weber knows that the intricacies of certain music languages--whether classical or jazz--can be frustratingly elusive, so he's made it his mission to educate the masses. And when some of the students in the audience are among the most accomplished instrumentalists in New York, you realize that your teacher is a virtuoso."

Mark Dundas Wood, a reviewer and member of the Bistro Awards committee (www.bistroawards.com), wrote: "It's hard to single out any one of Weber's performances, as so many are electric . . . The way Weber's hands flung themselves and slammed at the keys in ecstatic abandon made his performance of Jelly Roll Morton's "King Porter Stomp" especially breathtaking. For those like me who struggled with years of childhood piano lessons in order to make it through the first few keyboard primers, a talent like Jon Weber inspires awe, pure and simple-not to mention big doses of joy. This show is a must-see and a must-hear."

Weber, who currently serves as host of "Piano Jazz With Jon Weber" on National Public Radio, has performed throughout New York and the world and has recorded with a broad range of musicians and singers in the United States, Europe, India, Japan, and Australia. On the New York cabaret scene, he has been the Musical Director/Pianist for stars such as KT Sullivan, Stacy Sullivan, Jeff Harnar, Shana Farr, Lauren Fox, Marissa Mulder, and Carolyn Montgomery-Forant.
