After a knockout headline season at the 2009 Melbourne Fringe Festival, Australian cabaret performer Tom Dickins's show "Where Was I?" is touring LA, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, and Boston and will be playing ONE NIGHT ONLY at The Duplex on Tuesday the 22nd of December at 7pm.
Sometimes in life, we need to run. We run to a new country. To the arms of a lover. To the bed of a stranger. From the bed of a stranger... And somewhere in the midst of it all, we hope to run into ourselves. In the mad Australian cabaret, "Where Was I?" Tom Dickins runs, stumbles and stalls on a scattered trip around the world, in search of answers to the question: "Are you running away from something? Or toward it?"
With "the velvety, yet bittersweet voice of an angel, only recently fallen from grace" (Amanda Palmer, Dresden Dolls) Tom runs to and from love, identity, sex, debt, the South Korean National Male Cheerleading Squad and a myriad of mad travellers, accompanied by ephemeral muse, anima, travelling companion and ‘ravishing redhead' Jennifer Kingwell on piano.
Tom Dickins is the 2009 Under Our Wing award for excellence in cabaret performance - previous winners have included Sammy J and Tim Minchin.
Tickets are $15 with a two drink minimum. To make a reservation, visit theduplex.com.
