The BROADWAY SINGS concert series will present its 10th show this February with Broadway Sings Billy Joel. A cast of 20 Broadway stars will sing completely new arrangements of the Piano Man's greatest hits. The performers will be accompanied by a jazz orchestra playing original orchestrations. Previous artists honored in the series include Adele, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, and Sara Bareilles.
The concert will include Lilla Crawford (Annie), Christine Dwyer (Wicked), Mark Evans (Book of Mormon), Alexa Green (Wicked), Arielle Jacobs (In the Heights), Grasan Kingsberry (The Color Purple), Brennyn Lark (LES MISERABLES), Aaron Lavigne (Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark), Corey Mach (Godspell), Ginna Claire Mason (Wicked), Sydney Morton (Evita), Jake Odmark (Kinky Boots), Rachel Potter (Evita), Jed Resnick (Avenue Q), Zak Resnick (Mamma Mia), Adam Roberts (Spider-Man), Brandon Rubendall (Anything Goes), Natalie Weiss (Everyday Rapture) and Betsy Wolfe (Bullets Over Broadway).
The concert will give tribute to the singer-songwriter and his greatest songs, including "Just the Way You Are", "New York State of Mind", "She's Got a Way", and "Uptown Girl". The music will be orchestrated and arranged by Joshua Stephen Kartes.
Since releasing his first hit song, "Piano Man", in 1973, Billy Joel has become the third best-selling solo artist in the United States. He is also a six-time Grammy Award winner, with 23 Grammy nominations throughout his career. He has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Joel was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2013, he received the Kennedy Center Honors, the nation's highest honor for influencing American culture through the arts. He is currently performing once a month on a sold-out residency at Madison Square Garden.
