Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose will join acclaimed composer Jason Robert Brown for four performances at Birdland in March. The pair will host shows at the club on March 14th, 16th, 17th, and 18th, and will sing a combination of both new and old songs from JRB's repertoire.

Pianist, singer and Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown will be featuring brand new material in addition to songs from his shows, including The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World, Parade, and 13, as well as his solo album "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes.

Jason Robert Brown has been hailed as one of Broadway's smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim, The New York Times refers to him as a leading member of a new generation of composers who embody high hopes for the American musical. With The Last Five Years, Brown won Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics. Brown received a 1999 Tony Award for his score to Parade, which is currently playing to rave reviews in Los Angeles. Songs for a New World opened Off-Broadway at the WPA Theatre in the fall of 1995, and has since been seen in more than three hundred productions around the world. "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes" is his solo CD (available on Sh-K-Boom Records).

Anika Noni Rose was most recently heard as the voice of "Princess Tiana" in the Oscar- nominated "The Princess and the Frog." She also appeared as "Grace Makutsi" in "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" and as "Lorrell" in the movie "Dreamgirls." Classically trained at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, Rose has performed on Broadway in "Footloose" and "Caroline, or Change," for which she garnered a Tony Award, Theatre World Award, Clarence Derwent Award, Lucille Lortel Award, L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk nomination. She most recently starred as "Maggie" in Debbie Allen's acclaimed production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Additionally, Rose has sung all over the world, including on the 79th Annual Academy Awards and at the Vatican.
