Andrea Bell Wolff to Bring BACK TO BASICS to the Metropolitan Room, 10/25

Miss Andrea Bell Wolff, the delightful singer-actress, has appeared in Broadway shows, on Las Vegas stages, on television; she was even the audience warm-up girl for the "Ed Sullivan Show" in the late 1960's! Miss Bell Wolff has been in real show biz for the past 50 (yes!) years, yet she looks and acts incredibly youthful - and sounds, it, too.

While Andrea Bell Wolff stands at a diminutive 4'-11," she has a soaring professional career which began at age 17 and never stopped until she received the role of a lifetime-wife and mother. Her countless credits include her performing on stage, on television, and in Las Vegas - appearing in the renowned Bottoms up Revue at Caesars Palace. Her theatre credits include a record-setting number of performances as Ermengarde and Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly!, (Broadway and National Tours) where she worked with Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Dorothy Lamour, Betty Grable and Phyllis Diller. Other credits include: The Imaginary Invalid with E.G. Marshall and Ruby Dee; and Grease, opposite Andrea McArdle. From appearing on the Ed Sullivan show with Your Fathers Mustache Band to fronting several rock bands, Andrea Bel Wolff proved to be quite talented and limitless. Upon coming back to (off-) Broadway, Miss Bell Wolff starred in her co-written and self-produced show Loose Screws,, where she appeared at the Laurie Beechman Theater in June, 2011 in the musical about the fictional and risqué biographical journey of also-ran entertainer named Chelsea Sutton Place.

Going from a wild ride with imaginary characters in "Loose Screws" to "Back to Basics", Miss Bell-Wolff is philosophical, yet full of mirth about her career, what she has seen then, and what she is seeing and doing now:

"When I was first in show business, I was a singer. I sang torch songs. Standards. A lot of Broadway show tunes. I then got away from show tunes. I danced. Then I started acting. I did many character voices. Singing went by the wayside. So, I decided, it is time that I got back to what I should be doing, get "Back to Basics", Andrea says.

Andrea Bell Wolff will sing beautiful torch songs, great songbook standards and some solid Broadway fare when she brings "Back to Basics" to New York's Metropolitan Room on Saturday, October 25th at 4 PM. Miss Bell Wolff is also proud and happy to be singing three songs written by Francesca Blumenthal: "Lives of Handsome Men", "Move in with Me" and "How is it for you?"", all words and music that explore relationships. Miss Bell Wolfe knows the story behind these songs: "I will be singing and telling stories about love and relationships. Life takes you there, to love and relationships, as you get older." she explains.

"People have asked me, 'Why, at this age, are you singing again? Are you doing this?' I just say 'Because I can. And I think that I should. I have a lot to give and I have loved to entertain my entire life. If my audience can forget their troubles when they join me for a moment in time, why not?" Miss Bell Wolfe asks.

Barry Leavitt is joining Andrea Bell Wolff as her Musical Director and accompanist. The veteran Musical Director and arranger has played for such greats as Rosemary Clooney, Marilyn Michaels, Debbie Gravitte and Jack Jones. Rounding out the quartet led by Mr. Leavitt will be Tom Hubbard on bass, Jack Cravale on guitar and Jerome Jennings on drums.

The event promises to be a spirited one, and it is suggested to make your reservation early. Getting "Back to Basics" with Andrea Bell Wolfe sounds just like the thing to do on a Saturday afternoon.
