Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel award nominee Amy Warren (The Adding Machine, August: Osage County), Zachary James (South Pacific, The Addams Family), Rebecca Ringle (The Metropolitan Opera's upcoming Nixon in China and Die Walküre), Ryan Bauer-Walsh (Chicago's Billy Elliot), Mellissa Hughes (The Little Death, Volume 1), and mezzo-soprano Flora Mendoza join previously announced Megan Stern (Straight Up Vampire, CHURCH) and Lauren Worsham (New York City Opera's Candide, Goodspeed Opera House's Carnival!) for The Coterie: Twelve12Twelve12, at Joe's Pub on December 12th, 2010 at 9:30pm.

The Coterie, a downtown opera-theater company devoted to developing contemporary music theater works, will present The Coterie: Twelve12Twelve12 an evening of twelve world premiere songs from new musicals and operas by twelve different composers on December 12th, 2010.
Composers and lyricists include Parker Ainsworth (Leave On the Light), Christine Donkin (Magnificat), Andrew Gerle (Meet John Doe), Kyle Jarrow (Obie Award winner for A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant), Matt Marks (The Little Death, Volume 1), Jeff Myers (The Hunger Art), Nick Martin (The Belly of the Bear), Rachel Peters (Only Children), Paola Prestini (Oceanic Verses, Body Maps), Josh Schmidt (The Adding Machine), Aravind Sreenivasan (Super Mirage), Royce Vavrek (Dog Days), and Julian Wachner.
The evening will feature selections from many new projects, including Josh Schmidt's Stockholm, Matt Marks' The Fuck List, Paola Prestini's Untitled Yoani Sanchez Project, Aravind Sreenivasan's Unicorn Tapestries, Jeff Myers' Maren of Vardø, Christine Donkin's The Farmwives Oratorio and Rachel Peters' Bug Party, the third opera in the triptych constituting The Wild Beast of the Bungalow, a project The Coterie is developing aiming for a 2012 production in New York City.
Royce Vavrek (Artistic Director/Librettist) is a multi-disciplinary narrative artist from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, whose work has been hailed as "wildly dramatic and... exhilarating" by The New York Times and "smart, crisp, [and] witty" by See Magazine. Since joining the CLDP in 2007, Vavrek has collaborated with diverse artists on a wide variety of opera/music theater libretti including Dog Days (New York City Opera VOX; Zankel Hall/Carnegie Hall) and Vinkensport, or The Finch Opera (Bard Conservatory) both with composer David T. Little; The Hunger Art with Jeff Myers (American Lyric Theater, Center City Opera Theater, Burning Bayreuth); Unsaid in a Field of Wildflowers with Kristin Hevner (Remarkable Theater Brigade/Carnegie Hall); and Nora at the Altar-Rail with Jay Anthony Gach (American Lyric Theater, Boston Metro Opera). Upcoming projects include Song from the Uproar with Missy Mazzoli (Beth Morrison Productions), The Bear Dance with Nick Martin (Alberta Foundation for the Arts Grant), ...of the Flesh (American Lyric Theater) with Jay Anthony Gach, 1882 with Mark Baechle (Swiss Society of New York), Ordet and Stockholm with Josh Schmidt, Maren of Vardø with Jeff Myers, Sex Objects with Matt Marks, The Beach with Andrew Gerle, Angel's Bone with Du Yun, and The Wild Beast of the Bungalow with Rachel Peters. Lauren Worsham (Executive Director) is a New York-based actress and singer whose favorite roles include Cunegonde in New York City Opera's Candide, Lili in Goodspeed Opera House's Carnival (dir. Darko Tresnjak), Cinderella in Kansas City Rep's Into the Woods (dir. Moises Kaufman), Clara in Weston Playhouse's The Light in the Piazza and Olive in the first National tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Other theatre credits include Jerry Springer the Opera at Carnegie Hall, Master Class (Sophie) at Paper Mill Playhouse and The Fantasticks (Luisa) at Emelin Theatre. Lauren has participated in workshops and readings of Picnic at Hanging Rock (Daniel Zaitchik) at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Mermaid in a Jar (Royce Vavrek/Rachel Peters) and The Chemist's Wife (Julianne Wick-Davis/Rachel Jett/Will Aronson) at Tisch, Le Fou (Bekah Brunstetter/Julia Meinwald/Robert Shapiro) at New Georges and Mirror, Mirror (Sarah Treem) at Playwrights Horizons. Lauren is the 2009 2nd place award winner of the Kurt Weill Foundation's Lotte Lenya competition. She is also the co-founder and co-artistic director of the downtown opera company, The Coterie. Among her screen credits, Lauren is especially proud of her performance as the voice of the cousin-loving Urara in the English-language dub of the anime classic The Sakura Diaries. Lauren graduated cum laude from Yale University, with a B.A. in Spanish Literature.
