Aisha de Haas and Capathia Jenkins Join Billy Stritch in HAVEN'T WE MET? at Birdland Tonight

The Broadway at Birdland concert series has announced that Broadway performers Aisha de Haas and Capathia Jenkins will return in tandem with pianist/singer/musical director Billy Stritch in "Haven't We Met?"

The very special one-night-only event will take place on the stage of the historic music room tonight, April 24 at 7pm.

These three musical powerhouses from the worlds of Broadway, Jazz and Cabaret will sing some of their favorite songs, including "I Got Love," "For Good," "Natural Woman," and "Something's Gotta Give."

Aisha de Haas returns home and to Birdland after a year-long SRO tour of Disney's Newsies, culminating in a movie due to hit theaters in January 2017! She has thrilled Broadway audiences in Caroline Or Change, RENT and Love, Loss and What I Wore and made numerous TV and film appearances including "Law and Order," "Bluebloods" and "Across The Universe." Aisha loves being front and center, but has also enjoyed being a backing vocalist for Patti Austin and Oleta Adams.

Capathia Jenkins was featured in the record-setting NBC Live telecast of "The Wiz." She created the role of 'Medda' in the hit Disney production of Newsies on Broadway. She made her Broadway debut in The Civil War, where she created the role of Harriet Jackson. She then starred in the Off-Broadway 2000 revival of Godspell, where she wowed audiences with her stirring rendition of "Turn Back, O Man" which can be heard on the original cast recording. She returned to Broadway in The Look of Love and was critically acclaimed for her performances of the Bacharach/David hits. Ms. Jenkins then created the roles of "The Washing Machine" in Caroline, Or Change and "Frieda May" in Martin Short-Fame Becomes Me where she sang "Stop the Show." In 2007 she went back to Off-Broadway and starred in (mis) Understanding Mammy-The Hattie McDaniel Story, for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. She was also seen in Nora Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore. An active concert artist, Ms. Jenkins has appeared with orchestras around the world including the Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony (with Marvin Hamlisch), National Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Utah Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Memphis Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Toledo Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Kansas City Symphony, San Diego Symphony and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. She was a soloist with the Festival Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic. In 2011 Capathia had the great honor of performing in the "Broadway Ambassadors to Cuba" concert as part of the Festival De Teatro De La Habana. Ms. Jenkins was a guest soloist with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and with the Cincinnati Pops.

Billy Stritch is one of the premier singer-pianists on the New York and national jazz and cabaret scene. His most recent solo show, a tribute to Cy Coleman garnered rave reviews in New York and London, prompting Jarieth O'Connell of The American Online in London to write "His ease, his craft, his way with an audience and his sheer good taste make this an object lesson in what good Cabaret should be about." Billy hails from Sugar Land, Texas but has made New York City his home for over twenty years. His most recent Broadway credit was as musical supervisor and pianist for Liza's Tony Award winning show Liza's At The Palace for which he also reconceived the vocal arrangements of the legendary Kay Thompson and The Williams Brothers. In addition to his twenty-three year association with Liza, Billy also accompanies and arranges for Linda Lavin, Marilyn Maye, LiLlias White and Paulo Szot. On stage, he originated the role of Oscar the rehearsal pianist in the 2001 Broadway revival of 42nd Street, performing the role for 488 performances. He also performed in and created the arrangements for The Best Is Yet To Come - The Music of Cy Coleman at New York's 59E59 Theater off-Broadway in 2011. His latest solo CD release is "Billy Stritch Sings Mel Tormé," a salute to one of his musical heroes. He served as co-producer on Liza's recordings "Gently" and "Confessions" and is featured on numerous albums including Linda Lavin's "Possibilities," "Sunday In New York" with Christine Ebersole, and "Dreaming of a Song - the Music of Hoagy Carmichael" with KLea Blackhurst. The readers of Broadway World named him NYC's top musical director of 2012 and 2014 for his work on shows with Marilyn Maye and Tony-Award winner LiLlias White. Other awards include BMI Song of the Year, Grammy nomination ("Does He Love You" recorded by Reba McEntire), four Backstage Bistro awards and six MAC awards. Billy also is the resident pianist for "Jim Caruso's Cast Party," the long-running open mic night that happens every Monday night at New York's legendary Birdland Jazz Club.
