FLIPPING SHIPS SCOOPS

In the 90s, Singer Edwin McCain's passion for music took him straight to the 'Top 10' charts, and these days, he's whistling a new tune. In all-new Animal Planet series FLIPPING SHIPS, which premieres Friday, April 24, at 10 PM (ET/PT), McCain straps up for a new task, restoring and reinvigorating abandoned, ramshackle boats. His goal is to provide each client with an opportunity to forge deeper connections to the marine environment on a one-of-a-kind vessel.

FLIPPING SHIPS follows McCain and his Boats Have Souls business in a six-part series. In each episode, this quirky band of gear heads perform acts of nautical salvation on boats that have been abandoned for so long, they're beginning to forge with nature ... and not in a good way! When boat's floorboards have long been replaced by grass and dirt, the team goes to work reinventing these disasters into fishing vessels, open water cruisers and family houseboats.

In the series premiere, McCain partners with fellow singer and long-time friend Darius Rucker for a boat flip to benefit one of their favorite charities, the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. Both singers have a deep connection with the charity, and Rucker challenges McCain and his team to build the ultimate Rock-n-Roll speedboat to be auctioned off for charity.

McCain always is up for the task of turning a hot mess into a hot rod, and with most of his jobs, the turnaround is tight, and some of the team's outrageous, over-the-top ideas may get in the way. Hoping to deliver a stellar boat for the auction, the team must quickly overhaul a 1950s Sea King to its former glory, complete with retro fins and a classic console. With the kids on their mind, the team rolls up its sleeves and pulls out all the stops.
