After successfully refreshing its brand as the place for "Way More Fun" television, truTV is ready to keep the fun quotient high with several programming moves, including four series renewals and an order for a brand new show. On the renewal side, truTV is ordering new seasons of Hack My Life, a funny spin on life's little shortcuts that can save you time, effort and money; How To Be a Grownup, a comedic take on the trials and tribulations of true adulthood; and truTV Top Funniest, featuring a collection of wildly hilarious viral videos. truTV is also expanding the first season of Barmageddon, the high-stakes bar competition with a twist, and has greenlit the brand new series Six Degrees of Everything, a fast-paced, comedic look at the unexpected connections between various topics.
truTV's latest programming moves come on the heels of the network greenlighting its first-ever fully scripted series, Those Who Can't. The comedy about a trio of frustrated high school teachers stars show creators Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy, members of the Denver-based comedy troupe The Grawlix.
Since its extensive brand makeover in October,
truTV has been rapidly expanding its lineup of original programming. The network has ordered additional seasons and episodes of the hit series Impractical Jokers, featuring four lifelong friends who dare each other to carry out hilarious stunts in public; The Carbonaro Effect, in which comic magician Michael Carbonaro amazes unsuspecting people on hidden camera; the eye-popping performance competition series Fake Off; and Friends of the People, truTV's first-ever sketch comedy series. In addition,
truTV has launched such new series as Breaking Greenville, a look at the playful rivalry between the news teams at two small town television stations, and Kart Life, a look inside the big-stakes, little-driver world of kart racing. And later this year,
truTV will debut the new series The Hustlers, about the high-stakes, cutthroat competition in New York City's pool halls, and Santas in the Barn, a refreshingly unexpected holiday-themed series.
truTV's brand update has already begun moving the network's audience measurements in a positive direction. Since the October launch of the new brand,
truTV has drawn a primetime audience that's four years younger than last year, with a median age of 38. And digital and social engagement for
truTV and its shows are also up across the board.
"Six months since launching the new truTV, we are continuing to elevate the brand with unique, innovative and clever shows that offer a fresh point of view," said Chris Linn, president, head of programming for truTV. "With an ever-expanding lineup of original series,
truTV is taking fun, distinctive programming to a whole new level for our target audience of young, connected viewers."
The following is a rundown of truTV's latest programming moves. Information about truTV's other recent series renewals, pickups and development deals are available upon request.
