newportFILM Presents Mini-Fest Nov. 4-5

newportFILM presents the following films at Jane Pickens Theater in its November Mini-Fest November 4-5.

UNDEFEATED on Friday, November 4th. There will be a wine reception at 6:00 pm and the screening will be at 7:00 pm. Ticket prices are $12 for film or $20 for wine reception & film. The reception food is provided by the Salvation Cafe.

Set in the inner-city of Memphis, UNDEFEATED chronicles the Manassas Tigers' 2009 football season, on and off-the-field, as they strive to win the first playoff game in the high school's 110-year history. A perennial whipping boy, in recent decades Manassas had gone so far as to sell their home games to the highest bidder, but that all changed in the spring of 2004 when Bill Courtney, a former high school football coach turned lumber salesman, volunteered to lend a hand. A coming-of-age documentary film, Undefeated provides audiences an intimate view of an underprivileged group of teens and their inspirational coach, as they attempt to make history.

SNOWMEN on Saturday, November 5th. The screening will be at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $5 for children under 12 and $10 for adults. The movie is recommended for ages 7+.

More specifically, he wanted to be part of Jim Henson's team, the creative force responsible for delivering the magic of Sesame Street on a daily basis. With a supportive family behind him, Kevin made his dreams come true. Filmmaker Constance Marks explores Kevin's story in vivid detail and chronicles the meteoric rise of Jim Henson in the process. This insightful and personal documentary is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg and includes interviews with Frank Oz, Rosie O'Donnell, Cheryl Henson, Joan Ganz Cooney and more.
