mun2, a Hispanic entertainment cable network, received a 41st Annual Daytime Emmy® nomination for "mun2 News Special: Hecho en America" in the Outstanding Special Class Special Category. The news special showcases prominent figures sharing their inspiring journey and how they are making a difference in their community on a daily basis, including Singer/Actress Christina Aguilera; actress and Honest Company co-founder Jessica Alba; Film Producer Elizabeth Avellan; CEO, Girl Scouts of the USA, Anna Maria Chavez; Singer Becky G; Chef Jose Garces; Comedian George Lopez; Senator Robert Menendez; NCLR President & CEO Janet Murguia; and Fashion Designer, Rolando Santana.
The series will re-air on Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. EST and is also available at mun2.tv/hecho. The influential series premiered as part of the network's Hispanic Heritage month programming in 2013. The series takes a cue from the motto of the new Latino movement - "50 million strong, making it in America." "Hecho en America" celebrates and allows the inspiring journey of Latinos achieving the American Dream to be told by those changing it.
The special was created by Gloria Medel Solomons, Executive Producer, mun2, Producer Ilana Sod, and Director of Photography & Editor Mariano Dabini.
This marks the first Daytime Emmy® Award Nomination for mun2. The network joins fellow NBCUniversal divisions NBC, Telemundo, E!, and Sprout as nominees.
