According to Deadline, Guardians of the Galaxy's Zoe Saldana is applauding the Walt Disney Co. executives for bringing back writer/director James Gunn after previously banishing him from the movie franchise.
Saldana, who plays Gamora in the series, openly supported Gunn, after he was removed from the project due to the surfacing of old offensive posts. The backlash over the posts caused Disney to end its relationship with Gunn.
After Marvel's executives allegedly asked, Disney re-thought the way they handled the situation and reversed Gunn's banishment.
"I was very proud of Disney and all of the executives there," said Saldana in an interview with the New York Daily News. "They're sending a very strong message that, yes, accountability is important. It is a must. We're not going to surrender that moving forward. But when the opportunity presents itself where it's just the first step, redemption must be the second step."
