This week's NHL Game of the Week on NBC features a "Star Sunday" showcase highlighting Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, who was recently named one of the NHL's Top 100 Greatest Players, and Kings forward Jeff Carter, when Washington hosts Los Angeles this Sunday at noon ET on NBC from Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Airing most Sundays through the end of the regular season in April, NBC Sports' "Star Sunday" games will shine a spotlight on a star from each team. The stars selected for each "Star Sunday" will be the focus of pre-game player arrivals and interviews, and will be highlighted in pre-game features and "get-to-know" segments. NBC Sports' "Star Sunday" game telecasts will include an iso cam on the stars to be utilized for game analysis during intermissions, and scoreboard graphics will let viewers know when these stars are on the ice.

In addition, during a portion of the second period of Kings-Capitals, the NHL on NBC Facebook page will host a Facebook Live Star Cam look-in following Ovechkin and Carter. Star Cam is available during "Star Sunday" games via NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call this week's Kings-Capitals "Star Sunday" NHL Game of the Week. Pre-game coverage and intermissions will be hosted by Liam McHugh, alongside analysts and former players Jeremy Roenick and Keith Jones.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app - NBC Sports Group's live streaming platforms for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs - will provide live streaming coverage of Kings-Capitals.

ALEX OVECHKIN AND THE WASHINGTON CAPITALS

Alex Ovechkin is the NHL's most prolific goal-scorer over the past decade since being drafted first overall by Washington in the 2004 NHL Draft, totaling 550 goals and 1,013 points. Ovechkin has posted seven seasons with at least 50 goals, including three consecutive seasons with 50 goals heading into this season.

The Capitals (34-11-6) are one of the hottest teams in the NHL, lead the league with 74 points and are coming off a 5-3 win at home against the Boston Bruins on NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry. Ovechkin scored in last night's win, and has notched at least one point in 11 of his last 12 games. This season, Ovechkin has netted 25 goals, good for third in the league behind his "Star Sunday" counterpart Jeff Carter (26) and Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby (28).

JEFF CARTER AND THE LOS ANGELES KINGS

Jeff Carter has been one of the most consistent offensive performers over the past decade, currently in the midst of his 10th consecutive 20-goal season. Carter scored twice in the Kings' 5-0 win against Colorado on NBCSN's Wednesday Nightcap to eclipse his goal total from the 2015-16 season (24). Carter just represented the hometown Kings at the 2017 NHL ALL-STAR GAME in Los Angeles, the second All-Star appearance of his career, and scored a goal and added three assists in the event.

Carter is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, hoisting the Cup in 2012 and 2014 with Los Angeles, and was an Olympic gold medalist with Canada at the 2014 Sochi Games.

Los Angeles (26-21-4, 56 pts) has won four consecutive games, led by goaltender Peter Budaj, who has allowed just three goals and registered two shutouts in those four victories.
