Variety reports that Will Ferrell has singed on to star in and produce an upcoming comedy THE HOUSE from New Line Cinema. Andrew J. Cohen will make his directorial debut on the project.
Cohen previous director credits include short films and "Funny or Die" sketches. He co-wrote the script along with "Neighors" co-writer Brendan O'Brien.
According to the report, Ferrell will portray "a husband who joins with his neighbors to start an illegal casino in his basement after he and his wife blow their daughter's college fund." Ferrell and Adam McKay will produce through their Gary Sanchez Productions banner along with Good Universe. Chris Henchy and Jessica Elbaum are executive producing. The comic will soon be seen on the big screen opposite Kevin Hart in the new comedy "Get Hard", set to hit theaters on March 27.Ferrell first established himself in the mid-1990s as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, and has subsequently starred in the comedy films Old School, Elf, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights, Stranger than Fiction, Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and The Lego Movie. He is considered a member of the "Frat Pack", a generation of leading Hollywood comic actors who emerged in the late 1990s and the 2000s including Jack Black, Ben Stiller,Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn, and brothers Owen and Luke Wilson.
