Why Chad Michael Murray Became an Actor: The Touching Story Revealed to a 3-Time Cancer Survivor Image

Actor Chad Michael Murray stopped by this week's episode of Just Between Us with Bailee Madison and Kaitlin Vilasuso, as he joined the pair in surprising an 18-year old three-time cancer survivor, Alexandra Wilson, who found escape during treatments by watching One Tree Hill. Following Wilson's joyful tears, Murray shared a story about why he became an actor - to entertain people who need a boost like he got from television during a teenage hospital stint - and the rewards of seeing that come to life through Alexandra. When given the opportunity to ask Chad any question, Alex chose to request an Instagram follow, which Murray happily obliged.

Hear Wilson's inspiring story, along with Chad Michael Murray's visit in the full episode, available now on PodcastOne.com and Apple Podcasts. Tune in next Tuesday for an in-depth interview with Murray.

An Excerpt From Chad's Story

Murray: "You were watching One Tree Hill?"

Wilson: "Yeah, I even got my Nana into it."

Murray: "Yaaaahhh. When I was fifteen, I was in the hospital. Nothing, I mean, even comparable. I was there for about three months, and I became an actor because I wanted to create entertainment to keep people's minds off it - to keep it in great places. And that's what's so beautiful. My goal always was - I remember, you know what it was for me? It was Scooby Doo...and THE SIMPSONS is what made me happy. I would sit in bed, and I remember how lonely I was. And I'd just turn on the tv and I'd just forget about everything that was going on for so long. I said, 'That's what I want to do. I want to be an actor someday so that I can give that to somebody else as a kid.' So, you just brought everything full circle to know that you were sitting there, and watching something that we put our heart and soul into. Thank you so much. That warms my heart, BEYOND - you have no idea."
