Every great film needs great music. Today, the Whistler Film Festival (WFF) issued the call for artists to participate in the fifth consecutive WFF Music Showcase during the 2018 Festival (November 28 to December 2). The opportunity will include evening performances as well as pre-scheduled meetings with industry music supervisors.
Up to ten export-ready, British Columbia Artists from across the musical spectrum will be selected to play a live 30-minute set, and meet with key international music and film executives and delegates attending the Festival. The program offers a unique opportunity for musicians to perform in front of audiences such as music supervisors on THE HUNT for their next discovery, professionals from the film, TV and music industries looking to put tracks on their next project, and film fans who love music.
Since the launch of the showcase in 2014, over 32 artists have participated in the program including Carly Rae Jepsen, USSR, //AMISTAD//, Chris Buck Band, I M U R, Tourist Company, Vince Vaccaro, JPNSGRLS, Little India, Morning Show, Wooden Horsemen, Wil, and more. The showcase has proven to be very successful in providing participating musicians placement in film as well as Sync Licensing representation.
"WFF's Music Showcase provides an intimate stage for British Columbia's most promising musicians to focus on song placement and sync licensing in feature films, television, documentaries, and filmed media, while connecting with senior music supervisors and producers from around the globe," said Shauna Hardy Mishaw WFF's Executive Director. "We have had some great traction to date for the artists and are looking forward to even greater success with this year's edition."
The application deadline is October 10, 2018 at 5pm PST. Artists will be selected by a jury comprised of local music industry professionals and may apply online at whistlerfilmfestival.com.
The Festival's online box office at whistlerfilmfestival.com/tickets is now open for Film, Industry and Patron Passes, and Ticket Packages. Air travel, ground transportation deals and early bird accommodation rates are now available at whistlerfilmfestival.com/attend.
