ABC's new series MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., from executive producer Joss Whedon debuts on September 24, 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET. At yesterday's Television Critics Association fall TV previews, Whedon spoke about the possibility that there will be crossover between the new TV series and the upcoming 'Avengers' sequel heading to the big screen.

"There will be as much [crossover] as we can allow," confirmed Whedon. "We're still working that out. The important thing is it's a fun opportunity. It's not the reason for the show. We don't want to be an Easter egg farm. This show has to work for those people who haven't seen those movies and won't be seeing them."

The dynamic, action-packed one-hour drama that brings back Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) to lead a team of highly skilled agents to investigate extra-normal and super human people and events worldwide, however no details have been revealed as to how and why Coulson remains alive. "We refer to that as a Level-7 question and we can't really declassify that," executive producer Jeph Loeb commented.

Added Whedon, "We will be dealing with the issue. That will be part of the thread of the story." Many, including TVGuide.com, suspect that this Coulson could be a Life Model Decoy. "I'm not going to confirm or deny anybody's ideas. I've heard more than a dozen ideas. Somebody at some point is going to be right, but I'm never going to say when that happens. I'm not even going to blink."

The series begins where the "Marvel's The Avengers" left off. It's just after the battle of New York, and now that the existence of super heroes and aliens has become public knowledge, the world is trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson is back in action and now has his eye on a mysterious group called The Rising Tide. In order to track this unseen, unknown enemy, he has assembled a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division).

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team has a mission: To investigate the new, the strange and the unknown around the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.

Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent MeLinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent MeLinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons.
