This February, Centric kicks-off the Black History Month celebration with original weekly series, BEING. The 8 episode one-hour docu-series takes a riveting look at the journey many of our seminal African American celebrities have encountered.
Often beating the odds and rising from tough environments, BEING chronicles the life and times of Wendy Williams, Chaka Khan, Al Sharpton, Dionne Warwick, Donnie McClurkin, Ruben Studdard and more. Viewers will follow the challenges, drama and politics that brought them to the top and reveal the compelling and unknown stories that are sure to inspire audiences everywhere. BEING premieres February 15, 2014 at 9PM ET.
Narrated by hip hop icon, Big Daddy Kane, the series features exclusive interviews and the artist telling viewers what it is like BEING them at different points in their career and life. Through candid dialogue, archival footage and photos spanning these legends' careers, the audience will see these artists in a new light. Interviews from family, associates and friends will make fans laugh and cry as they gain access to never- before-documented moments in the lives of some of their favorite celebrities. We
Capture their world beyond the stage and the studio, digging deeper to showcase the triumphs, hopes, fears and what's next for them. Journey beyond the velvet rope and take an unfiltered glimpse into the lives of the world's most well-known in music, TV, film and politics as they share their stories...flaws and all.
BEING is executive produced by Paxton Baker, Depelsha McGruder and Jon Marc Sandifer for CENTRIC, Bart Phillips for Sunseeker Media and P. Frank Williams from Prophit From It Entertainment.
