Washington Capitols Host Boston Bruins on NBC Sports' Today Night Rivalry

The NHL's most prolific goal-scorer of the last decade will be featured on Wednesday Night Rivalry this week, as Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals play host to Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins tomorrow night at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

NBCSN continues its coverage of the 2016-17 Notre Dame COLLEGE HOCKEY season this Friday at 7 p.m. ET, when the No. 12 Fighting Irish host the No. 4 Boston College Eagles in a Hockey East conference showdown.

NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app - NBC Sports Group's live streaming platforms for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs - will provide live streaming coverage of this Bruins-Capitals and Notre Dame-Boston College.

Four-time Emmy Award-winner Mike 'Doc' Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call Bruins-Capitals from Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and Anson Carter (analyst) will call Boston College-Notre Dame from the Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind.

Pre-game coverage for Wednesday Night Rivalry on NBCSN begins at 7 p.m. ET with NHL Live. Liam McHugh anchors Wednesday Night Rivalry studio coverage with analysts Mike Milbury and Keith Jones, as well as NHL insider Bob McKenzie. Post-game coverage on NHL OVERTIME will air on NBCSN immediately following Bruins-Capitals.

Ovechkin and the Capitals boast a strong 14-7-3 record to start the 2016-17 season, but currently sit in fourth place in a highly-competitive Metropolitan Division with 31 points. The Caps' captain leads the club with 12 goals scored in what's been a top-heavy scoring attack in Washington. Ovechkin, Marcus Johansson (11), T.J. Oshie (8) and Nicklas BACKSTROM (7) have accounted for 62% of the team's goals this season. The Caps are coming off a 3-2 overtime win against Buffalo last night, led by Johansson's two goals, including the game-winner in the extra session.

Boston (15-10-1, 31 points) is on a three-game winning streak, including its 4-3 overtime win against Florida last night. Goaltender Tuukka Rask, who has bounced back in a big way this season, is tied for the NHL lead in wins (14), and ranks second in goals against average (1.68). Brad Marchand leads the club with 22 points (7g/15a), and David Pastrnak has broken out with 15 goals in 21 games this season, including two goals in last night's overtime victory.

This marks the first of three meetings between the Bruins and Capitals this season. Washington has dominated the matchup of late, riding a six-game winning streak against Boston into their Wednesday Night Rivalry showdown.

NBCSN's 2016-17 COLLEGE HOCKEY coverage continues Friday with a Hockey East clash between Boston College and Notre Dame. The Eagles (12-5-1) are coming off a 4-3 loss to defending NCAA champion North Dakota on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden and have had a difficult non-conference schedule, but lead Hockey East with a 7-0-1 conference record. The Eagles are led offensively by Matthew Gaudreau, brother of former B.C. Eagle and current Calgary Flame Johnny Gaudreau, who paces the club with 19 points (6g/13a).

The Fighting Irish (8-6-2) are coming off a split of a weekend series against fellow Hockey East member Massachusetts. Notre Dame's Anders Bjork is tied for fourth in NCAA Division I hockey with 26 points (11g/15a) in just 16 games this season.
