Wallace Shawn to Guest on Star on Amazon's THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL

Beloved film and television actor Wallace Shawn has SIGNED on to for a guest-starring role in Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino's upcoming Amazon Original Series THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL. Shawn will play Herb Smith, a self-proclaimed comedy writer who "shapes acts, writes jokes, and eats pastrami."

Greenlit for two seasons on Amazon Prime Video, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is written and directed by the Palladinos and stars Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) as Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman who has everything she's ever wanted - the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent - one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside Drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she storms the world of stand-up comedy... a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson's couch.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel also stars Michael Zegen (Boardwalk Empire) as Midge's husband Joel Maisel, Alex Borstein (Family Guy) as Susie Myerson, Golden Globe winner and three-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub (Monk) as Midge's father Abe Weissman, and Marin Hinkle (Two and a Half Men) as Midge's mother Rose Weissman.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel pilot, currently available for all Amazon customers at amazon.com/originals, has garnered an average customer rating of 4.9, with 93% 5-star reviews.

Wallace Shawn has appeared in many films, including four directed by Louis Malle: My Dinner with Andre, Vanya on 42nd Street, Crackers and Atlantic City, and five directed by Woody Allen: Manhattan, Radio Days, Shadows and Fog, Curse of the Jade SCORPION and Melinda and Melinda. He also appeared in Amy Heckerling's Clueless and Vamps, Paul Bartel's Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills, Alan Rudolph's The Moderns, Tom Noonan's The Wife, Rob Reiner's The Princess Bride and Paul Weitz's Admission. His most recent film is A Master Builder, directed by Jonathan Demme. He is THE VOICE of "Rex" in Toy Story, Toy Story Two and Toy Story Three, and he has had recurring roles in the television shows The Cosby Show, Murphy Brown, The "L" Word, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Gossip Girl, The Good Wife, Graves and Mozart in the Jungle.
