Write Shoot Cut, a Monthly Short Film and Networking Night, has announced the programme for its Edinburgh launch on March 12th.
Neil Rolland, the creator of Write Shoot Cut, had this to say; “I’ve created this event to fill a gap I had seen in the Edinburgh film scene. A friend of mine a few years ago ran the short film night Shoot First which was highly successful but since that ended there has been nothing consistent on a monthly basis for Edinburgh filmmakers. I know how much work goes into producing a short film and how great it feels to watch your work with an audience. I’d like to give filmmakers from across Scotland, the UK and further afield the opportunity to screen their work, meet one another, form relationships and hopefully go on to create more films.
"Write Shoot Cut is also about audiences. In a culture of instant access video uploads it can be
difficult to sift through the mediocre and downright awful to find any real glimpses of talent. That’s
the whole reason I started the website http://www.write-shoot-cut.com so that I could share the
brilliant shorts I had seen online and now everything has evolved from there. Write Shoot Cut is a
curated event in order to give filmmakers and audiences a set standard; everyone knows that on the night they will see something either interesting or worthwhile, they may not always like the films but there should at least be something for everyone. There are no egos at Write Shoot Cut; it’s about quality films and quality time with potential collaborators. The industry is built on this and I hope at some level that Write Shoot Cut will play a part in bringing filmmakers and audiences ogether.”
