WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING returns to NBCSN this Saturday, Jan. 23, live at 10 p.m. ET, highlighted by a lightweight bout between Luiz "Buscape" Firmino (18-6) and Caros "The Future" Fodor (10-4) from the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.
Firmino is a Brazilian native who has competed professionally since 2000. He has won his past five fights, including a WSOF10 victory over Tyson Griffin and a WSOF6 win over Jacob Volkmann. Firmino also downed current WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING lightweight champion Luis Palomino in 2013. Fodor makes his WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING debut on Saturday, having fought most recently overseas in ONE, where he went 3-1 in four appearances. The brother of fellow WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING athlete Ben Fodor (better known as "Phoenix Jones"), Caros owns five first-round wins in his professional career.
In addition, Teddy Holder (9-2) faces Shamil Gamzatov (9-0) in a light heavyweight co-main event bout. Holder made his WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING debut in the 2015 four-man light heavyweight tournament on NBCSN, earning a first-round TKO win over Thiago Silva to make his way into a championship fight with David Branch (loss by submission). Prior to the loss to Branch, Holder had won eight consecutive bouts, including six finishes in two minutes or less. Gamzatov makes his WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING debut after spending the majority of his early career fighting in Russia and the Ukraine. Six of his nine career victories have come in the opening round, while the other three were finished in the second round.
Saturday's card also features bouts between Jorge Medina (4-2) and Bryce "Thug Nasty" Mitchell (4-0) in the featherweight division, and Jaleel "The Realist" Willis (5-0) and Chauncey "The Machine" Foxworth (2-0) in the welterweight division.
Play-by-play announcer Kenny Rice will be joined by mixed martial artist and analyst Joey Varner to call the action.
