The WORLD OF WARCRAFT creators revealed at BlizzCon that the popular game will be immortalized in an upcoming film.
"As in the game, where you can choose what side to be on, I thought it was really important that we made a film which allowed you to be on either side of the conflict and follow heroes on both sides," said director Duncan Jones on Friday at the convention in Annaheim celebrating Blizzard Entertainment Inc.
Visual effects supervisor Bill Westenhofer also attended the celebration to promote the new film from Legendary and Universal Pictures.
"It's got so many stories," said the director. "`World of Warcraft' has been going for 10 years, `Warcraft' itself has been going for 20 years. Our challenge was to drill down and find a story that would work as a single film."
They also announced the May 2016 movie's cast: Travis Flimmel (as Anduin Lothar), Dominic Cooper (King Llane Wrynn) Ben Foster (Medivh), Ben Schnetzer (Khadgar), Toby Kebbel (Durotan), Clancy Brown (Blackhand), Daniel Wu (Gul'Dan), and Paula Patton (Garona).
It should be a visual feast. As Jones said, "We have so many special effects. It's 'Avatar' and 'Lord of the Rings' at the same time."
