WNET has entered into its first foray with Kickstarter, launching fundraising efforts for Season 2 of the digital series First Person.
In the first season of the series, First Person had more than 400,000 views, helping to give a new voice to the LGBTQ community. The season included episodes on trans YouTuber Skylar Kergil, gender and sexuality in comics, race issues within the queer community, bisexual erasure, growing up intersex, asexuality, and more. Catch up on the first season
here.
Hosted by comedian and television host Mike Kelton, Season 2 will provide viewers with a light-hearted and thoughtful look at gender and sexuality, and a weekly forum for covering LGBTQ-related news and issues such as identity development, sexuality, bullying and social norms.
Reaching the
Kickstarter campaign goal of $30,000 would allow us to produce the first five episodes of Season 2, including an interview with Matt Shepard's parents,Judy and Dennis Shepard; an episode about transitioning in the workplace; mental health issues in the LGBTQ community; and more. Achieving the campaign's stretch goals up to $120,000 would allow the team to produce 20 new episodes. Learn more about
Season 2 and the Kickstarter here.
The campaign will run until Friday, July 8.
