We tv has just greenlit "Ex Isle," a groundbreaking new concept in the dating and relationship space that helps former couples finally break free from one another in order to move on and form new, healthy relationships. Their journey takes place on a secluded, beautiful tropical island where they're able to focus on their issues away from daily distractions. The couples are joined by show host Carmen Electra and guided on their emotional journey by Dr. Ish Major, a psychiatrist specializing in women, children and families and an expert on broken relationships.
Produced by 495 Productions with Founder and President SallyAnn Salsano executive producing, We tv has ordered 10, one-hour episodes, which are currently in production, to join the network in 2016.
"'Ex Isle' is a concept that's completely untapped in the world of dating and relationship shows, but one that's familiar to so many of us," said Marc Juris, WE tv's president. "The couples featured will be given the tools and guidance to let go of the past and finally move towards building emotionally healthy and productive relationships. Viewers will witness a transformational journey that's captivating, entertaining and relevant."
"This is probably one of the most relatable shows I have been a part of," says show creator and Executive Producer, SallyAnn Salsano. "We all have exes and have been these people. You feel their pain and heartbreak like it's your own; you root for them as they heal and find new love. Let's just say, I've been up since we started filming, it is an emotional rollercoaster and I don't want to miss a second."
Set in the Dominican Republic at the luxurious Casa de Campo Resort, five former couples will go through an intense and emotional journey led by Dr. Major. With his help, the couples will go through a unique, multi-step process designed to help them break free from the past. Then, in an unexpected twist, 10 singles will arrive at the Resort, giving THE EXES a fresh chance at love.
Along the way, show host Carmen Electra will share her own relationship stories through heartfelt and oftentimes comical commentary. Her larger-than-life personality will help ease the couples into the process and ensure they're making the most of their time on "Ex Isle."
A recent online survey shows that most people are still very hung up on their ex. Eighty one percent of singles report thinking about their ex too much, and more than half (57%) of singletons say thinking about their ex prevents them from finding new love.
In addition to Salsano, the show is executive produced by Joel Zimmer and Pam LaLima for 495 Productions. The executive producers for We tv are Lauren Gellert, EVP, development & original programming, Angela Molloy, VP, development and Mark Powell, VP, original programming.
