A Turkish version of the long running hit series The O.C. has been commissioned by Star TV in Turkey from Warner Bros. International Television Production. The 13 episode season is Being produced by Ay Yapim and will premiere on 13 September. This is the first local adaptation of the award winning U.S. series.
The show follows a group of friends and families as their lives are changed forever when an outsider arrives into their affluent ocean-side community.
Originally produced in the U.S. by Wonderland Sound and Vision and College Hill Pictures in association with Warner Bros. Television, the series ran on FOX from 2003 for four seasons and almost 100 episodes produced.
"We are really pleased to be working with Ay Yapim and Star TV on the Turkish version of The O.C.
Today, the standards are so high in drama, so we are delighted with what they've done with such an iconic format - it looks glossy and perfectly replicates the original series with a Turkish twist" said Andrew Zein, Senior Vice President, Creative, Format Development and Sales, Warner Bros. International Television Production.
In those territories where WBITVP establishes a production base, it operates by developing and producing original programming and also producing local versions of formats owned and controlled by the group such as "The Bachelor", "The World's Strictest Parents" and "Who Do You Think You Are?" Where WBITVP has no local production capability it licenses Warner Bros. formats to 3rd parties.
WBITVP has taken significant steps by acquiring a majority stake in both UK production group Shed Media, one of the UK's largest and most successful independent production companies which operates both in the UK and the US, and in BlazHoffski Holding B.V., a leading independent television producer in The Netherlands and Belgium.
