WAR HORSE's Jeremy Irvine Set to Star in 'The Railway Man'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Irvine, star of the upcoming film WAR HORSE, will be playing the role of the young Colin Firth in 'The Railway Man'.

The film is based on the life of Eric Lomax, who authored a memoir about his experiences during World War II in which he worked on the infamous 'Death Railway' in Japan. During the war, Lomax served as a British officer who was tortured by the Japanese. He later returned to Japan to track down his tormenters. Colin Firth will play the role of Lomax in the film which will be directed by Jonathan Teplitzky. Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson co-wrote the script.

Jeremy Irvine is currently working on the upcoming film 'Great Expectations' which is being directed by Mike Newell. He will play the role of Pip. The cast will also include Ralph Fiennes and Helen Bonham Carter.

Dreamworks' WAR HORSE will be released this December. In the film, Irvine plays Albert, whose beloved horse is sold to the cavalry during World War I. The film is based on the Tony Award-winning play currently running at Lincoln Center.
