Divulging on the show which is about the first woman soldier to be trained to serve as a combatant in the armed forces in India, he says, "Given how women today are taking a stand and braving a fight for a life they choose I think this show is an opportunity for me to support that. I believe everyone should have a choice in the kind of life they want and be able to lead it with dignity and happiness"
Taklking about making his debut with a long format series, Vinay says - "Being my very first project as a director it was a roller coaster of struggles and epiphanies and was thrilling to say the least. The big challenge in a long format is to keep the audience coming back till the very end but I couldn't think of all that. For me it was about making the best film in every episode, treating each episode as important as the next to tell the whole story."
Vinay has collaborated with Mr. Aamir Khan as a Chief AD on four projects including Ghajini, Three Idiots, Dangal and Satyamev Jayate.
This experience is very close to Vinay's heart and he uses it as a benchmark as he found a mentor and an inspiration in Mr. Aamir Khan. "What you see on screen is just the tip of the very impressive ice berg! Even off cam there is so much to Mr. Aamir Khan, so many things to learn from him. Working with him is the best film schooling I could have ever had." He says praising the star!
A complete outsider in the film industry, Vinay worked extensively with the directors like Rajkumar Hirani, Nitesh Tiwari, Ashutosh Gowarikar, John Matthew Matthan an? Rakesh Omprakash Mehra.
Sharing his experience of working with master storytellers, Vinay Waikul says, "The one thing that I learnt from all the fine directors I worked with was that there is no substitute for hard-work! They all throw themselves passionately in the films and that's the only way." Along with these massive films he also worked on some 60 odd commercials as a 1st AD.
