Rob Elmore has been named Vice President and News Director for ABC Owned Station KABC, Los Angeles, it was announced today by Cheryl Fair, President and General Manager of the station, to whom he will report.

Mr. Elmore was most recently the News Director at ABC Owned Station WTVD in Raleigh-Durham, N.C. He takes the position vacated by Ms. Fair, who was News Director of KABC before she was promoted to President and General Manager in February 2015.

"Rob is a consummate news professional whose passion and knowledge will be a huge asset to our station," said Ms. Fair. "His RELENTLESS focus on excellence, strategy, research and recruiting has helped build a first-rate news operation in Raleigh Durham that really serves the viewer. I know he will build on that tradition of excellence to further strengthen the bond that abc7 has with our viewers and the local communities we serve."

From 1998 to present, Mr. Elmore has overseen all news operations at WTVD, and has launched new newscasts at 4:30 a.m., 4 p.m., 10 p.m., and weekend mornings. He was responsible for several market innovations: the "Raleigh Eyewitness News Center" street level studio; a fleet of "Breaking News 1" live mobile units using broadband technology, and the market-first One Million Watts "First Alert Doppler XP."

WTVD has made great strides in the digital and social media areas during Mr. Elmore's tenure. Traffic on WTVD's digital platforms is up 66% versus a year ago, and the station is No. 1 in social media engagement in the Raleigh-Durham market.

Before joining WTVD, Mr. Elmore served as News Director at WHEC-TV, Rochester, NY. He worked at the station from 1992-1998 and began as the Assistant News Director. From 1989-1992, he was a News Producer at WSMV-TV in Nashville. He began his career in 1984 as News Producer for WHAM-TV, Rochester, N.Y., where he worked for five years.

Mr. Elmore holds a B.A. from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo. He is a past board member of the Radio and Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas, and a past President of the New York State Associated Press Broadcaster Association.
