Venus Williams Headlines ESPN's Prime Time of US OPEN

Day three of the US Open, all two weeks exclusive to ESPN - with much of day two on the docket, thanks to Tuesday's rain - provides a heavy slate of tennis' top stars starting on ESPN3 and the ESPN app at 11 a.m. ET with ESPN joining at 1 p.m. before the coverage switches to ESPN2 at 6 p.m. The prime-time doubleheader from Arthur Ashe Stadium will feature No. 9 Venus Williams - at 37 the oldest woman in the draw, fully 20 years after her debut at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center - against Oceane Dodin of France. The evening will finish with No. 8 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Denis Shapovalov, the 18-year old Canadian lefthander who recently defeated both Juan Martin del Potro and Rafael Nadal in Montreal.

Earlier in the day, key players in action include Maria Sharapova - winner Monday night in a dramatic three-setter vs. No. 2 Simona Halep in her first Major tournament match since January 2016 - against Timea Babos of Hungary in the third MATCH OF THE DAY on Ashe. Other women scheduled: No. 3 Garbiñe Muguruza, No. 8 Svetlana Kuznetsova, No. 13 Petra Kvitova and a battle of Americans: Alison Riske vs. CoCo Vandeweghe. On the men's side: del Potro, No. 4 Sascha Zverev, No. 6 Marin Cilic, No. 7 Grigor Dimitrov, No. 14 Nick Kyrgios plus matches with Americans No. 10 John Isner and Steve Johnson.

In action begun Tuesday, No. 4 Elina Svitolina and No. 6 Dominic Thiem are close to moving on to the second round.

ESPN has two weeks of exclusive live coverage from tennis' fourth and final Major of the year, with matches all day on television plus ESPN3 and streaming live on the ESPN app. The daily action from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center will culminate with the Women's Championship on Saturday, Sept. 9, and the Men's Championship on Sunday, Sept. 10, both at 4 p.m.

ESPN's Schedule Highlights

The television coverage starts on ESPN at 1 p.m. ET each weekday the first week (except Thursday, on ESPN2), and will continue nonstop - transitioning at 6 p.m. to ESPN2 (except Tuesday) - for at least 10 hours through both the day and evening sessions until play is concluded.

Play begins each day on ESPN3 and streaming on the ESPN app - at 11 a.m. through Wednesday, Sept. 6, and at noon the final four days - totaling 1,300 hours of action from up to 12 courts simultaneously.
