Cleopatra Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to the new Brazilian biopic ELIS, which was directed, co-written and co-produced by Hugo Prata, co-produced by Fabio Zavala and co-written by Luiz Bolognes and Vera Egito. ELIS stars Andreia Horta, Gustavo Machado, Caco Ciocier, Zecarlos Machado, and Lucio Mauro Filho. The film will premiere theatrically at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills on March 23, 2018.
ELIS follows the life of Elis Regina, undoubtedly the greatest Brazilian singer of all time, told in this biopic film with energetic and pulsating rhythm.
The deal was brokered by CLEOPATRA Founder and CEO Brian Perera, Tim Yasui, VP/GM of CLEOPATRA Entertainment, and by Ricardo Monastier for MPM Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
"I am glad and very proud to release our film in the USA," said director Hugo Prata. "It will be a good opportunity for the American audience to know more about this great woman and artist who was Elis Regina, about Brazilian music and a little bit about our history."
ELIS will be released on multiple VOD platforms on April 10th, followed by the special behind-the-scenes DVD release on May 8th.
