VIDEO: Watch Trailer for Sci-fi Thriller EQUALS, Starring Kristen Stewart & Nicholas Hoult

Search Engine Films invites Canadians to find their equal this summer with the highly anticipated release of the dystopic romantic sci-fi thriller EQUALS, showing in select Canadian theatres starting Friday, July 15. The latest feature from acclaimed-filmmaker Drake Doremus will also be available that day on iTunes and Video on Demand services across Canada. Watch the trailer below!

Starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult, Equals made its world premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival and was acquired by Canadian distributor Search Engine Films after its North American premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.

Set in a colorless, post-apocalyptic society, Equals features a world where emotion, love and sex have been eradicated, by the genetic elimination of human emotion, and subsequently outlawed. Impassive faces and collegiate pleasantries are the ideal, those whose feelings cannot be suppressed are seen as a danger to society and at the mercy of 'The Collective.' Despite this, co-workers Nia (Stewart) and Silas (Hoult) begin to feel a dangerous attraction - tentative at first then exploding into a passionate, FORBIDDEN romance. As suspicions mount, the couple is forced to choose between the safety of the lives they have always known, or risk it all for love.

Directed by Drake Doremus, Equals is produced by Scott Free Productions and Route One Entertainment with Ridley Scott and Russel Levine as Executive Producers. The story is written by Doremus and screenplay by Nathan Parker. Cast includes Kristen Stewart, Nicholas Hoult, Guy Pearce and Jacki Weaver.
