Daytime Emmy® Award history was made on August 30, 2009 inside the historic Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles when on-stage presenters Jeannie Garth and Lori Loughlin announced that "The View" hosts, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd, were named Outstanding Talk Show Host. It was the first time in the 36 year history of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) that multiple talk show hosts were bestowed this honor. The winning submission for the hosts, dated March 28, 2008, featured then Democratic Presidential candidate, Senator Barack Obama.
