Taye Diggs has officially taken over Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The actor stepped into the title role on July 22nd, at the Belasco Theatre, making his return to the Great White Way after a decade-long hiatus.

Diggs stopped by USA TODAY's NYC studio to talk about the challenging role. "I never in a million years thought or assumed that I would even get an opportunity to play a role such as this." He shared, adding, "It's definitely the hardest thing I've ever encounterd." Watch the clip below!

Diggs returns to Broadway in HEDWIG for a limited engagement with co-star Rebecca Naomi Jones as 'Yitzhak.' HEDWIG marks Diggs' first New York stage role since the 2005 revival of A SOLDIER'S PLAY.

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, with book by John Cameron Mitchell and music and lyrics byStephen Trask, directed by Michael Mayer, has received rave reviews and is the winner of four 2014 TONY AWARDS including Best Musical Revival. It was also awarded Best Musical Revival by the Drama Desk Awards, Drama League Awards, and Outer Critics Circle Awards.
