Los Angeles-based writer/director Matt Steele released a concept trailer for his feature film DIVOS! The Movie on June 19. The trailer promotes the movie's crowdfunding campaign, which began on the same date. Check it out below!
DIVOS! The Movie is a modern-day, gender-bending retelling of All About Eve. The story follows high school senior Ricky Redmond, a self-absorbed teenager who insists that he is a "Broadway legend in the making." When the high school's star baseball player, Josh Kelly, joins the school play, Ricky finally meets his match. What ensues is an all-out war between the colliding egos, proving that when it comes to the school play, it's all about the drama.
Matt Steele gained a large internet presence through his web series The Doomsday Diaries, which was praised in various publications and social media outlets, including BroadwayWorld.com, The Huffington Post and The Village Voice. He currently serves as co-producer and co-host of the online talk show, Two Gay Matts. As a writer, Steele has several full-length plays published under various dramatic licensing companies, including Pioneer Drama Service, Eldridge Publishing and Brooklyn Publishers. He holds a BFA in drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. DIVOS! The Movie marks his first feature film.
The film is being produced by Jamison Daniels (So You Wanna Be a Broadway Star?) and Cynthia Dieyi (Keith Powell's award-winning web series Keith Broke His Leg).
The crowdfunding campaign for DIVOS! The Movie runs from June 19 to August 17. For more information, please visit www.divosthemovie.com and follow the film on Twitter and Instagram @divosthemovie.
