Get More: 2014 Logo Trailblazers, Logo TV
During Monday night's taping of Logo TV's inaugural Trailblazer's event (which airs tonight, June 26), before introducing Orange is the New Black (one of the night's honorees), Demi Lovato revealed for the first time that her late grandfather was gay and actually came out in the 1960s. She goes on to say that "a lot of my spirit comes from him." Watch the clip below!
The event will feature performances from Sia, A Great Big World and special appearances from President Bill Clinton, Daniel Radcliffe, Adam Levine, Jared Leto, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Ed Sheeran, Nate Ruess, Iggy Azaela and more.
The special is also honoring Ugandan Gay Rights Activist and Refugee John Abdallah "Longjones" Wambere as an "International Trailblazer." In addition, we have partnered with the Trevor Project to spotlight 4 "Trailblazing Youth" who are making an impact in their local communities. "Trailblazers" will premiere on Thursday, June 26th, during the most historic week of gay rights - the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, and the one-year anniversary to the day of DOMA being overruled.
In more Demi news, MTV and LOGO TV will world premiere the music video for her new single "Really Don't Care" along with a special message to fans at 5pm ET/PT on MTV, MTV Hits and LOGO TV (with a repeat at 7:56pm ET on Logo TV) tonight, June 26 in advance of her appearance on Logo TV's inaugural Trailblazers event and television special premiering at 9pm ET/PT.
