On this morning's 'New Day' on CNN, the sons of beleaguered celebrity chef Paula Deen strongly defended their mother, claiming allegations of racism are a "character assassination." Watch their appearance below!

In the exclusive interview with anchor Chris Cuomo, Bobby Deen maintained, "Neither one of our parents ever taught us to be bigoted toward any other person for any reason." He added, "Our mother is one of the most compassionate, good-hearted, empathetic people that you'd ever meet. These accusations are very hurtful to her, and it's very sad."

Deen has come under media scrutiny after it was revealed in a court deposition that she had used the 'N' word toward an employee. Yesterday, Smithfield, the company which features The Paula Deen Collection of specialized pork products, dropped her from her endorsement deal while over the weekend, the Food Network announced Deen's contract would not be renewed.

The chef is scheduled to appear on tomorrow's TODAY on NBC.
