Celebrity chef Paula Deen made her first public appearance since news broke in June that she once used a racial slur. At the Metropolitan Cooking Show in Houston, Texas, an emotional Deen shared, "As y'all know, unless you were under a rock, I had a little rough patch." Below, watch Deen as she reflects back on the life-changing experience.
Since the news was revealed that the 66-year-old had used a racial epithet in her past, she has lost endorsement deals with Ballantine Books, Smithfield, Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, J.C. Penney, Sears, Walgreens, Caesars Entertainment, and Novo Nordisk. The Food Network also announced they would be ending their relationship with her.
In June, a remorseful Deen appeared on the Today show and discussed her legal woes. She has not been seen in public until the recent Houston appearance.
