The Oscar-winning film production companies Breakthru Films and Trademark Films presenT Loving VINCENT by Dorota Kobiela. Every frame of this world's first feature-length painted animation is an oil painting on canvas, the same technique in which Vincent painted himself. Watch the trailer for the film below!
What is so unusual about the technique? Cutting edge animation techniques will bring Van Gogh's work to swirling life on the screen, integrating it into the drama of the story. Thirty painters will hand paint 56,800 frames to complete this 80 minute film. The production will take two years, and will be made using Breakthru's patent pending Painting Animation Work Stations (PAWS).
Loving Vincent will be produced through 2013 and 2014 and will be completed in 2015 - the 125th anniversary of van Gogh's death.
