The award-winning hit comedy web series Old Dogs & New Tricks celebrates the completion of its successful second season with a new 30-minute retrospective special "Is This Goodbye?" debuting today. Watch it below!
The special looks back at the show's creation and its first two seasons with all-new cast interviews, audition videos, never-before-seen backstage footage and lots of clips and backstage secrets. (For example, did you know Jim J. Bullock was originally cast as Ross?)
"Our viewers have been so incredibly supportive of our show," says creator/star Leon Acord. "This special is our thank you, a love letter of sorts to our viewers and fans."
It also serves as a rather ambitious Indie GoGo pitch video - the series is currently raising funds for a third season.
"We hadn't planned to go back to Indie GoGo," says Acord. "But after our season-two finale, our viewers are clamoring for more!" Season 2 guest star Ian Buchanan (General Hospital) will return, and Gloria Gifford (This is Spinal Tap, Halloween 2) will guest star, with additional casting to be announced soon. Production will begin this fall for a January 2014 debut. Contributions can be Made at www.indiegogo.com/projects/old-dogs-new-tricks-season-3.
Old Dogs & New Tricks stars Acord, Curt Bonnem, Jeffrey Patrick Olson and David Pevsner as four middle-aged gay best friends struggling to stay relevant in youth-obsessed West Hollywood. Ryland Shelton, Doug Spearman and Amanda Gari are recurring regulars.
The series attracted some big names during its two season run, in addition to Buchanan. Olympian Greg Louganis, Patrick Bristow, gay theatre legend Michael Kearns and soap stars Thom Bierdz and Terri Garber have also guest starred.
The show was awarded Outstanding Web Dramedy and Outstanding Ensemble in a Web Dramedy in 2012 by LA Web Fest, and has screened at numerous festivals. It's also popped up on "top web series" list in various publications and blogs.
