Josh Gad stopped by this morning's TODAY to talk about his new film THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE. During the appearance, the BOOK OF MORMON star discussed his role of 'Le Fou' in Disney's upcoming live-action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
"That was one of my favorite movies growing up," says Gad, "and being able to do those songs and recreate that world, I'm just so excited, I think it's going to be amazing." The Tony nominee went on to give a tiny taste of a song from the upcoming film. Watch the appearance below!
Gad will take on the role of buffoon and Gaston sidekick Le Fou in Disney's upcoming live action film. He joins cast members Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, and Luke Evans as the vain villain Gaston.
The actor, who lent his voice to Olaf the snowman in the hit Disney film FROZEN, recently reprised the role in Disney's new short, FROZEN FEVER. He recently co-starred in the FX series The Comedians opposite Billy Crystal. His recent film credits include Wedding Ringer, Pixels and Wish I Was Here.
The actor received a Tony nomination for his portrayal of Elder Cunningham in Broadway's BOOK OF MORMON. He also appeared on Broadway in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
The Bill Condon-helmed project follows the classic French fairy tale of "a young woman who takes her father's place as a prisoner in a monstrous being's castle, only to fall in love with the creature who turns out to be a prince."
