On last night's LAST WEEK WITH JOHN OLIVER, Emmy-winning host John Oliver examined the recent controversy surrounding NFL players decision to kneel during the playing of the National Anthem. Then, big businesses are getting even bigger thanks to a rise in corporate mergers. Oliver explains why that could make you want to physically destroy your cable box. Watch the broadcast below!

Presenting a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events, as well as addressing broader issues, LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER debuted on HBO in 2014 and is currently in its fourth season, presenting new shows Sunday nights (11:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

The show is the only weekly news-oriented comedy series to be presented on Sunday night. Taped in New York a few hours before it debuts on HBO, the show features a mix of Oliver's topical commentary, pre-taped pieces and occasional guests.

LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER was recently nominated for eight Primetime Emmys® (to be announced Sept. 17), including Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series (Paul Pennolino) and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. The show has already won two Creative Arts Emmys®, in the categories of Outstanding Interactive Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.
