"The Newsroom" star Jeff Daniels stopped by last night's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC and confirmed reports of a sequel to the hit comedy 'Dumb and Dumber,' set to begin production this September.
"Everybody's there, Jim in particular. It'll be so great to be with Jim Carrey again," said the actor of co-star Jim Carrey. "He is just one of the best we've got." Check out the appearance below!
Recently EW.com reported that Universal Pictures had come to the rescue of the planned sequel to the 1994 comedy, acquiring the North American distribution rights. Peter and Bobby Farrelly will return to helm the sequel as well as rewrite the original script written by Sean Anders and John Morris.
Warner Bros was originally behind the project, but dropped the film last week. According to the report, the sequel will find the two friends on a road trip.
The original buddy comedy was a box office hit, grossing $127,175,374 in the United States, and $247,275,374 worldwide, and topping the holiday season film gross. While initial reception towards the film was mixed, Dumb and Dumber has since obtained a cult following and has spawned a TV animated series, and a 2003 prequel.
