Following in the successful footsteps of the recent 'Veronica Mars' Kickstarter, Hollywood actor James Franco has launched a fundraising campaign to produce a trilogy of films based on his 2011 short story collection, PALO ALTO. Check it out below!

Indigogo is a new fan-funding alternative to Kickstarter in which donors will keep the money which is raised if the proposed project never comes to fruition. Franco is hoping to raise $500,000 on the site.

The levels of contributions vary and include a copy of the screenplay for a $10 donation to a dinner with Franco and an executive producer credit for a donation of $10,000.

Franco first became know for his role on the short-lived cult hit television program Freaks and Geeks. He later achieved recognition for playing the title character in the TV biographical film James Dean (2001), for which he was awarded a Golden Globe Award.

He portrayed Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. His notable films are Pineapple Express, Milk, 127 Hours, Tristan & Isolde, Annapolis, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and 2013 releases Oz the Great and Powerful, Spring Breakers, This Is the End, and Lovelace. He also had a recurring role in the ABC soap opera General Hospital. For his role in 127 Hours, Franco received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
