JEOPARDY! contestant Cindy Stowell's winning streak came to end last night, with the strong competitor earning over $100,000 after seven appearances on the show. Following last night's episode, host Alex Trebek announced the sad news that the 41-year-old Science content developer from Austin, Texas had passed away on December 5th, just one week before her first episode aired.
During the tapings, Stowell was battling stage 4 colon cancer, and donated all her winnings to cancer research. Appearing on the show was a lifelong dream of hers.
The long-running game show shared a video of Stowell discussing her brave journey on the show. "I'm dying of cancer and I would really like the money that I win to be used to help others, and so this seems like a good opportunity," Stowell says in the video. "This has been an UNREAL experience."
Watch the moving video, along with Trebek's heartfelt tribute.
