After cutting her forefinger during a live cooking segment on the Food Network over the weekend, chef Giada De Laurentiis stopped by NBC's TODAY to help teach viewers how not to make the same mistake at home. Watch her helpful hints below!
The accident occured during a commercial break of the live broadcast, when De Laurentiis sliced into hot turkey to feed it later to her Food Network co-stars Bobby Flay, Alton Brown and Ina Garten. "I guess I just sliced through my finger at the same time," she said Monday on TODAY. "When I realized it, I went to the sink to put pressure to see how big it was."
She continued, "I think everybody kind of freaked out. We don't do live television usually on Food Network . These things usually just get hidden," she said, but this time, "it couldn't get hidden."
De Laurentiis briefly left the set to receive medical attention as fans wished her well on Facebook and Instagram.
