Former President George W. Bush said that despite being urged by his family and friends to defend himself against his critics, "I have no desire to spend my post-presidency trying to enhance my standing."
In the interview that was broadcast today, April 25, 2013, on CBS THIS MORNING (7:00-9:00 AM) on the CBS Television Network, Bush told Charlie Rose, "I want to make a difference in this world, and I want to do so without undermining our current president or engaging in political debate."
President Bush discussed the opening of the Bush Presidential Center, his father's George H. W. Bush's health, his optimism about immigration reform and more. Check out the interview in full below!

CHARLIE ROSE: Do you believe now immigration reform will happen because Republicans looked at election results and other things and said-
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Well, I hope that's not why it happens. I hope it happens 'cause it's the right thing to do. The problem with an issue like immigration is that there are a lot of moving parts. And a single moving part can end up disturbing a lot of people. And sometimes people focus on the moving parts as opposed to the whole. But I hope they get something done. And I'm impressed by the efforts thus far to get something done.
